Share The Joy
As a non-profit theatre, we rely on the generosity of patrons like you to keep The Phoenix Theatre Company thriving as Arizona's oldest arts organization. Every gift, big or small, helps us bring high-quality productions to life and support meaningful community programming like Partners That Heal and our Summer Camps, which serve to heal, train, and inspire. Your support makes all the difference.
Below is a list of what Share the Joy donations help fund:
Partners that Heal
Partners that Heal brings light into dark times by using over 250 improvisation techniques to improve communication between patients and caregivers, while boosting the resilience of healthcare staff. Last year, they touched the lives of nearly 6,000 individuals, providing joy and support to young patients and healthcare professionals alike. For over a decade, their work has impacted more than 70,000 patients across Arizona—from children’s hospitals and shelters to Ryan House and a new residency at Hospice Dementia Center.
Camp
Our Camps provide a safe, inclusive environment for children of all backgrounds to explore musical theatre while building life skills like collaboration, confidence, and empathy. With support from the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center (SARRC), we ensure accessibility for every child. As the only inclusive arts camp of its kind in the state, we’re proud to create opportunities for all young performers to thrive. Due to our success, expanding the program to Fall and Spring Youth Musical Theatre class. Campers learn from theatre professionals, participate in workshops, and showcase their talents on stage all while having fun, making friends, and learning skills for life.
Professional Apprentice Program
The Professional Apprenticeship Program is a testament to our dedication to nurturing the next generation of theatre professionals. Each season, talented apprentices join us straight from higher education, gaining hands-on experience alongside seasoned industry experts. This program offers specialized training across a range of disciplines, including Scenic Painting, Properties, Costumes, Lighting, Wardrobe, Sound, Stage Management, and Directing. Their journey is a transformative experience that equips them to become capable, confident artists ready to make their mark in the world of theatre. We’re also proud to share that 11 of our current staff members are graduates of the Professional Apprentice Program.
Community Nights
Our Community Nights, also known as Pay-What-You-Can Performances, have been a powerful way to foster connections and enrich lives through the arts. We’ve had the honor of welcoming incredible groups, including USVets & VetTix, First Responders from the City of Phoenix, Black Girl Brown Girl Collective, One-N-Ten, Gigi’s Playhouse, and A New Leaf. Each of these special nights is a testament to our commitment to community, inclusivity, and the unifying power of theatre.
